First of all it is necessary to determine the type of your dishwasher. There are two types: forward reversing or direct drive dishwashers. The latter one simply drains out all the water. But if you have a forward reserving dishwasher, you should know that it has a motor which moves in different directions. So if the problem is with the motor, the water will not vanish completely.

Another thing that may cause difficulties with water draining is clogging of the drain. So the best thing is to check it. If you discover that it takes a lot of time for water to go down into the pipe and there appear bubbles, that probably means that you need to clean your kitchen sink.

The next thing that may help is checking the dishwasher basket. For that you need to disconnect the basket. But make sure to move very slowly. Then watch if there is any waste or gunge, which may be the cause of all your problems with the dishwasher. All you need to do is to clear all the parts of the basket with wet rags. But again remember, that it should be done carefully and gently. After that you should put all the parts back.

What is more, there may be another cause for bad water draining. Very often garbage disposals are put into the kitchen, close to dishwashers. When you install a garbage disposal make sure that its knock-out plug id removed. If you discover that it was not removed, then simply take it out. And your dishwasher will work as if it is new.

Do not forget to consult on how to remove the knock-out plug and to clean the dishwasher basket. At the same time it is common knowledge that such kinds of work as plumbing or repairing should be performed by specialists. A good plumber will detect the source of the problem with your dishwasher and will quickly fix it. However, proper cleaning will not let any mud waste your time and patience.
